3d Printing files request
« on: August 11, 2018, 09:04:12 pm »
Hi all,

I have been a fan of X-Com since it came out.  I have obtained a 3d printer and I would love to be able to 3d print terrain and minis for my own X-Com game.

I saw where some initial models were made, but I need them in .obj or .stl format.

Can anyone help out with this?

the original xcom contains no actual 3d models to extract. you can probably extract some from the newer games, but translating sprites into 3d models is... not as simple.

Thanks Warboy,

I was referring to 3d items that have already been made in the forums, but to be saved in .stl or .obj format.
as an example:

I am hoping that someone with the tech savvy could make them and post them here so others with a 3d printer could print them out.  :)

Hi, djlittle1960.
Welcome to the OXC forums since your 3 days of joining the site.

Thank you for using my old thread as link to your own thread. :)
I'm not really good at some Paint 3D stuff like drawing shapes fitting for tiles, crafts/UFOs, gun clips and others.  :-\

Only thing i wanted to make 3D things; is SPORE (My only choice of art and things with the 3D game engine of SPORE), Blender, ZBrush and other things that can help me out with 3D modeling, sculpting and rendering instead of Paint 3D.

Me doing Paint 3D was hard and kinda difficult for my concept makings, i have to stop using it for days and days.

I hope you'll have a good day on the forums unless you come back to it!  ;D

Cheers! ~J-Kun FeruEnzeru, that is all.  :)
