Old Mod Portal Archive

When the mod portal was facing issues, I feared the worst and ran a web scraper to grab every file I could just in case the worst happened. And well, it did. The result is I managed to collect all the downloads before they were forever lost. Originally I was gonna save this for migrating to the new portal after careful curation, but given the delays on that front and repeated requests for lost mods, I decided to provide them here:

This is an archive of all the working downloads on the www.openxcom.com portal as of 10th October 2017. Only files that were publicly available were archived, any files that were deleted by their authors or unavailable due to server issues will still be lost. In case of duplicate filenames, you will have to figure out which one is the "correct version". Checking the Date Modified might help, although it seems old files all had their timestamp wiped in a server move in 2016.

• This is a last resort for the sake of preservation. Only use these mods if there are no other public versions available.
  
• All files are provided as-is with no support or associated mod page. Any form of documentation or instructions will have to be in the files.

Any mod authors that want their old work removed just let me know.

Many many thanks!! I got kind of lost with the filenames though, fortunately I'm still able to search for mod's name in the mod portal, so I can see filename in there

Is there a trick to getting some of the older mods to work? Was hoping to get some of the old weapon mods working such as the Combat Knife, Magnum and SMG.

They work very well. I use them in OXCE.
But for some very old Mods, they need to be structured properly to work in the latest OXCE version.
Folder structure, metadata file, url files...

Do you know is there any effort to getting all the old mods re-posted on the new mod.io site?  Is there a correct way to re-post and give the original author the credit for the mod, just so the mods are put back in the active community?

I read Hobbes message "Terrain Pack and Area 51 Announcement" and would in no way want to take credit away from the original authors.  But I do realize there are probably many authors that are no longer active anymore.

I can easily open the old mod archives, and edit and rearrange the file structure to work with the current mod format for both OXC and OXCE, but I suspect there are many players that would want a working archive without any editing on their part.

If you find any that work, or you know how to update them to make them work, feel free to post them on the mod portal. Just write the author's name in the description.
