Cold-blooded snakemen
« on: January 25, 2015, 08:27:30 pm »
Years ago when I started playing X-Com I mistakenly thought the snakemen were cold-blooded creatures affected by the climate in which they fought.  I figured out that this wasn't happening, but would this be possible to add to the game?  Have the terrain change their stats so they're slower in ice and tundra, but faster in the desert.  It's probably change their reactions as well as movement speed.  I'm not sure if changing their movement costs would really work well, but that could be modeled as reduced time units.

one COULD technically achieve this to some extent, using the following method:

all mcds (map cell datas?) have 3 TU values: walk, fly and slide. snakemen are the only units in either ufo or tftd that use the slide value. increase these values in polar/mountain terrain and reduce them in desert, and done!

it wouldn't affect their reactions so much, since they reserve TUs a lot of the time, but it would definitely hinder (or enhance) their movement capabilities.
