Application configuration is incorrect
« on: September 02, 2014, 04:20:32 am »
I'm having trouble installing openXcom.  I am using Windows XP 32-bit running in virtual box on a linux host.

I have purchased X-Com: UFO Defence on both Gamersgate and Steam and have tried to run openXcom on both of them without any success.
I get the following error:

"C:\Program Files\OpenXcom\OpenXcom.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I have reinstalled the application multiple times and even tried a manual installation by dumping the files into the data folder of OpenXcom but still without any luck.
 :(

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Wait!!! On further investigation and tinkering it's working!  ;D

I downloaded and installed: vcredist_x86 (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package) from the Microsoft website and after a restart of the computer...presto!  OpenXcom boots right up!

Here is the link to the website:
